Unique Access host Soren Baker chops it up with Carson, California MC Bishop Lamont. Soren opens up the conversation by asking Bishop Lamont, “I think there’s a perception, that things take a while for them to come out for you… So how have you been able to balance and navigate that throughout your career?”
“It only took a while because it had to take a while with the original situation with Aftermath,” Bishop Lamont says. The rapper adds that he wanted to leave the Aftermath situation without anymore stress.
Bishop is grateful for releasing music while on Aftermath, though. “I know so many people that are in unmarked graves in Aftermath history that will never be known,” he states.
The rapper adds that he learned to emulate a Tupac style work ethic while working in the legendary Can-Am studios. “I just learned, especially with writing so many songs for [Dr. Dre’s never-released album] Detox, I learned to just have a huge output of music,” Bishop Lamont states.
Elsewhere in the interview, the MC expresses his distaste towards the business side of Hip-Hop. “When you get let down by what you see on the other side of it,” he says, “it can take away the spirit. It can take away the fire.”
