Unique Access Ent.’s Soren Baker sits down with Strange Music artist Rittz to discuss Atlanta’s hoods, suburbs, as well as his Top Of The Line album.
Soren Baker opens up the conversation by discussing something that makes Rittz distinctive. “You talk about Atlanta in a different way than a lot of artists do,” Baker says. “You talk about how you can get caught up in the suburbs, too.”
“Atlanta is a different spot man,” Rittz explains, “and I think that sometimes, especially where I’m from needs to be represented.”
Although Rittz is able to navigate through the Atlanta ‘hoods as well, he states that he is not from there, so he doesn’t like to fake the funk.
“Anytime you live in a metro area of any city, people want to rep their city too and where they’re from, and might not have grown up right in the heart of it,” Rittz adds.
Soren Baker steps in and mentions that many people consider Atlanta to be one of the most important cities for hip-hop, as well as “The Mecca of the South.” He later asks Rittz, “How do you do that balance of showing pride and repping the city, versus also showing some of the dark sides of the city?”
The Strange Music artist simply states that this is his life. “I think that’s how I find a balance,” Rittz adds. “That’s how I live.”
