G Perico Discusses His Hair & Los Angeles’ New Rap Sound

Unique Access Entertainment representative Soren Baker sits down with up-and-coming South Central Los Angeles Hip Hop artist G Perico.

Baker starts the conversation off by asking “what have you found to be some of the things that are easy for you to do, and some of the things that are hard for you to do as far as promoting yourself?”

G Perico responds, “I think the hardest thing for me has been just like, getting on shows with other acts, like acts that are bigger than me.”

Perico believes throwing his own show, however, is a piece of cake and he is able to entertain every person and give them a good time. Perico adds, “I’ve created my own fanbase.”

Interestingly enough, Perico believes that although the fans love his music, they also admire his hair, more specifically, his curls. Tha Innerprize representative acknowledges the DJ Quik and Eazy-E comparisons, however the hairstyle comes natural to Perico, as he mentions, “that was like an LA thing.”

Soren Baker keeps the conversation moving by asking Perico about the common misconceptions of Los Angeles.

“People think it’s low-riders everywhere,” G Perico says. “It’s not a huge culture like how it was back in the day…I think out of town niggas get LA twisted as far as Hollywood, the Valley… There’s a big misconception with out-of-towners right now, because when they come to LA they don’t past Wilshire.”

Similarly, Perico thinks that a lot of fans only listen to the old LA rap material. “It’s kind of like a different ball game now, and I want to shed light on that”.
