Slink Johnson & Soren Baker Debate Remy Ma vs. Nicki Minaj on “The Grey Area”

Slink Johnson & Soren Baker set down on The Grey Area to discuss the two hottest females in the game, Remy Ma and Nicki Minaj.

Slink Johnson says that you can’t go wrong with either choice of MC. It is matter of opinion and taste.

“You know it’s kind of a toss up between the two, because we’re not necessarily talking about who’s better,” the Black Jesus actor says. “But just enjoying the differences between the two. Because you know both of them are hot. You know I was telling Soren like both of them are hot, Remy is fine is a motherfucka. Nicki Minaj is drop dead gorgeous, and they’re both lyrical beasts. However, I’m going to say Remy Ma bit more of a rapper’s rapper to me.”

Soren Baker believes that Nicki’s commercial success, endorsements and being considered more of a sex symbol has clouded how truly talented she is as an artist.

“I think Nicki can do all of that and I think that sometimes we get lost in the sense that she does have a bigger thing that she can bring to the table than Remy, at least right now as far as having more resources production wise, have more resources for guest appearances… But I think Nicki has been on a lot of songs with a lot of dudes and destroyed them lyrically.”

Slink recognizes Nicki’s influence on hip-hop, but he feels giving just as large a production team and financial backing that Remy Ma could rival the commercial success of Nicki.

“Nicki Minaj has definitely been kicking ass and paved the way making room for people,” Slink Johnson says. “And I think to give her the right marketing team and people around it Remy Ma definitely could be a force to be reckoned with.”

Soren says that Remy Ma could be back on the path of being a great female rapper and she could possibly just pick up where just left off from after her stint in prison.

“I think like ‘Lean Back,’ obviously set her up to where she could be like the next great rapper,” Soren Baker says. “But then she had to sit down go away for a little while, but then ‘All The Way Up’ came back.”

Slink’s take on the whole Remy and Nicki thing is that they are both beautiful, but Remy is more of an MC’s MC, but at the same time you can’t take nothing from Nicki.

“She’s definitely a beast, but she shows more vulnerability as a woman,” Slink Johnson says. “You know again, in a odd way, you never forget that Nicki’s a girl thats ripping the mic. When Remy is just a beast, she’s asexual on the mic. And again and that’s taking nothing away from her femininity at all. It’s just on the mic,  she’s such a fuckin’ ferocious beast.”
